  4. COPYINI will make a copy of you OS2.INI an OS2SYS.INI to a specified 
  5. directory. Both these ini-files contain a lot of empty space as a
  6. result of the updating of records. COPYINI will result in much smaller
  7. ini-files.

  9. CHECKINI only takes one argument, the location where you want the new ini's
  10. to be stored.
  11.  
  12. You could decide to let this location be your \OS2\INSTALL directory. In
  13. that case whenever you keep ALT-F1 pressed when booting your PC these new
  14. ini's will be copied to your \OS2 directory.

  17. An alternate way to allow you to copy the new ini's is the boot from a
  18. diskette and copy them manually.
  19.  
  20. Yet another way is to change the PROTSHELL line in the config.sys. If you
  21. change it to PROTSHELL=X:\OS2\CMD.EXE (where X stands for you OS/2 drive)
  22. when booting OS/2 you will not start the workplace shell but a CMD session.
  23. From this session you can manually copy the ini's, and then start the
  24. workplace shell by typing PMSHELL at the command line.

  26. NOTE: When you use the method mentioned above a lot of programs (copyini
  27. itself, but also checkini, will NOT work !)
